The Czech Republic is asking EU and NATO partners to expel Russian diplomats in solidarity following Prague's diplomatic spat with Moscow, Foreign and Interior Minister Jan Hamacek said Tuesday.

He said he would summon the Russian ambassador Wednesday to disclose further steps after the expulsion of 18 Russian diplomats believed by Prague to be secret agents, and of 20 Czechs from Moscow in retaliation.
-We are calling for collective action of EU and NATO countries aimed at solidarity expulsions- Hamacek told reporters.
The call comes after Prague accused Russian secret services of orchestrating a fatal explosion on Czech territory in 2014.
Eighteen Russian diplomats identified by Czech intelligence as spies left their posts on Monday, along with 20 Czech diplomats based in Moscow.
Hamacek said he had summoned Russian Ambassador Alexander Zmeyevsky for Wednesday afternoon to protest against what Prague views as a disproportionate response.
-It is only logical that if the Czech Republic takes further action, the Russian ambassador must be the first to hear it- he said.
Citing an intelligence report, the Czech government has said that Russia's military secret service GRU orchestrated two explosions in 2014, one of which killed two people and caused extensive material damage.
In connection with the blasts, Czech police are seeking two men also identified as suspects in the 2018 poisoning of former Russian double agent Sergei Skripal in Salisbury, England.
The Czech government also decided on Monday to rule Russia's atomic energy agency Rosatom out of a tender to build a new unit at a Czech nuclear plant.
Hamacek further said the Czech government would stop considering buying the Russian-made Sputnik V vaccine against Covid-19.

The call comes after Prague accused Russian secret services of orchestrating a fatal explosion on Czech territory in 2014.

Johnson &amp; Johnson remains "very confident" in its Covid-19 vaccine and hopeful for a quick resolution from regulators over its status, a top executive said Tuesday.

-We remain very confident and very hopeful that the benefit-risk profile will play out- J&amp;J Chief Financial Officer Joseph Wolk told CNBC.
The comments came ahead of a decision expected later Tuesday from Europe's drug regulator on the safety of the single-shot innoculation. 
US pandemic advisor Anthony Fauci said the United States is likely to announce its decision by Friday.
Health authorities in the United States on April 14 recommended a pause on the vaccine following six instances of severe blood clots out of nearly seven million Americans who received the vaccine.
The company hopes "very shortly ... perhaps as early as the end of this week, to have some resolution with how we are going to proceed," Wolk said.
Asked if the US decision to suspend the program hindered public confidence in vaccines, Wolk said "I would hope that at the end of the week, the population in general will feel more confident in taking the vaccine."
The comments came as J&amp;J released first-quarter results.
An earnings press release did not elaborate on vaccine approval issues, but said the vaccine generated $100 million in revenues in the United States during the period. J&amp;J is selling the vaccine at cost.
J&amp;J has also encountered production problems at a Baltimore, Maryland factory managed by Emergent BioSolutions.
The Food and Drug Administration has suspended production in the plant pending a review of the facility.
Wolk said J&amp;J expects to be "in a position to meet our contract commitments, not just here in the US but across the globe" following the FDA review.

Russia declared two Bulgarian diplomats 'persona non grata' on Tuesday and ordered them to leave the country in response to Sofia's expulsion of two Russian diplomats last month for suspected espionage.

The action followed Russia's decision to kick out diplomats from the United States, Czech Republic and Poland in a flurry of expulsions within the past five days in retaliation for the barring of its own staff, reflecting a sharp deterioration in its relations with the West.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Tuesday that Russia was not to blame for the spike in tensions, and said foreign countries should refrain from "mass anti-Russia psychosis".
Bulgaria threw out the Russian diplomats in March after prosecutors charged six people, including current and former military intelligence officers, with spying for Russia.&nbsp;Russia's foreign ministry identified two employees at the Bulgarian embassy in Moscow and said it had ordered them to leave Russian territory within 72 hours.
Bulgaria's foreign ministry confirmed that its diplomats were declared 'persona non grata' and that the action was a direct response to its expulsion of Russian diplomats in March.
-No other reasons for the actions of the Russian authorities were pointed out at today's meeting- it said in a statement.

India has allowed vaccination against COVID-19 to everyone above the age of 18 from May 1, an official release said Monday. 

The announcement by the government comes as the country’s coronavirus situation continues to worsen, with over 273,000 daily cases registered Monday. The rising cases have resulted in shortages of beds, medical oxygen supplies, and treatment drugs like remdesivir in various parts of the country.
-In a meeting chaired by PM Narendra Modi, an important decision of allowing vaccination to everyone above the age of 18 from 1st May has been taken- the Health Ministry said in a statement.
Previously, only people aged above 45 years were eligible for vaccination in the country.
The ministry said in the “Liberalized and Accelerated Phase 3 Strategy of the National COVID-19" vaccine, manufacturers are now empowered to "release up to 50% of their supply to state governments and in the open market at a pre-declared price."
-Vaccination shall continue as before in Govt. of India vaccination centers, provided free of cost to the eligible population as defined earlier, i.e. Health Care Workers (HCWs), Front Line Workers (FLWs) and all people above 45 years of age- the statement said.
The country launched the first phase of its vaccination drive on Jan. 16 this year, allowing vaccination for health care workers and front-line workers. In Phase 2, the government allowed vaccination for all people above 45 years of age.
According to official figures, over 120 million vaccine doses have been administered so far.
When the government announced its vaccination drive in January this year, it had given approval to two vaccines: Covishield and Covaxin. While the Covishield vaccine is locally manufactured by the Pune-based Serum Institute of India and is developed by Oxford University and AstraZeneca, Covaxin is the country's indigenous vaccine.
The Indian government this month also approved Russia's Sputnik V vaccine for emergency use authorization.
Even as the government vaccination drive is underway, several states have complained of vaccine shortages.

The European Commission and Austria are announcing today the conclusion of agreements for the delivery of COVID-19 vaccines for the Western Balkans, announced the European Commission. 

The 651,000 BioNTech/Pfizer doses are funded by the European Commission and will be shared with the facilitation of Austria. The first delivery to all the partners in the region is due in May, with regular tranches to continue until August.
President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, said that it is crucial to speed up the vaccination campaigns everywhere.
-I am happy to announce that we have secured doses to help vaccinate health care workers and other vulnerable groups in the Western Balkans. The European Union stands by our partners in the region, who have been looking to us for support. I want to thank Austria for facilitating this transfer, showing its firm commitment and solidarity with the Western Balkans- said von der Leyen.
Enlargement and Neighbourhood Commissioner, Olivér Várhelyi, added that despite the current global shortage, the EU will deliver life-saving vaccines for the Western Balkans.
-We have provided support from the start of the COVID-19 pandemic: First, with emergency medical equipment like masks, ventilators, intensive care units and ambulance vehicles; second, by strengthening the resilience. Now, we will help ensure the vaccination of all frontline medical workers across the region, as well as some of the other vulnerable groups. We care about the Western Balkans whose future is in the European Union- stated Varhelyi.
Austrian Foreign Minister, Alexander Schallenberg, stressed that it is a top priority to make COVID-19 vaccines rapidly and comprehensively available to people across Europe. Against this backdrop, supporting the Western Balkans to obtain vaccines is an act of European solidarity and an investment in the health and security of the whole region. After all, blank spots on the vaccination map, wherever they may be, pose a danger to all of us.
-No one is safe until everyone is safe- he said. 
Austria has facilitated the sharing of these vaccines through legal arrangements with the producer and the Western Balkan partners. The doses are funded from the €70 million package adopted by the Commission in December 2020 to help cover the cost of vaccines, secured under the EU's advance purchase agreements for the Western Balkan partners. The overall distribution between countries will be based on the epidemiological needs, prioritising in first instance medical workers and other vulnerable groups.

European Commission and Austria announce vaccines for Western Balkans

In the past 24 hours, 2,958 samples were registered with the Public Health Institute of the Federation of B&amp;H of which 357 were positive for SARS-CoV-2.

New cases have been registered in all the cantons in the Federation of B&amp;H, except Canton 10.
In the past 24 hours, 950 patients have recovered.
55 deaths were reported to the Public Health Institute of the Federation of B&amp;H in the past 24 hours.
As of today, the number of deaths in the Federation of B&amp;H is 4,586.
Today, 97 new cases of coronavirus infection have been registered in the Brčko District, out of 249 tested. Six people died. 76 people recovered.
In the entity of Republic of Srpska, 787 samples were tested in the last 24 hours, and coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) was confirmed in 268 people.
In the same period, 25 deaths were reported to the RS Institute of Public Health.
So far, a total of 3,166 people have died in the RS.
The total number of hospitalized is 1,180, the RS Institute of Public Health said.

Turkey aims to vaccinate all tourism professionals before the end of May, the country's deputy minister of culture and tourism said on Tuesday.

Speaking at the International Tourism Forum organized virtually by the Association of Turkish Travel Agencies (TURSAB), Nadir Alparslan said Turkey aims to complete the COVID-19 vaccination for tourism professionals before the start of the summer season.
At the beginning of April, the country launched a vaccination campaign for professionals serving in the tourism sector, such as hotels, restaurants, travel agencies, airlines, and buses.
-In order to minimize the negative impact of the virus on tourism, the government carries out a number of works with sector shareholders such as [the launch of the] Safe Tourism Certification program- Alparslan said.
The Safe Tourism Certification, launched in collaboration with Turkey’s Foreign, Culture and Tourism, and Transportation Ministries, covers a broad range of safety measures.
The certificate, issued by international certification institutions, validates the execution of strict health and hygiene requirements at airlines, airports, and other transport facilities, as well as in accommodation outlets and food and beverage venues.

Minister Selmo Cikotić will inform officials about the situation in the temporary reception center where migrants, asylum-seekers and refugees are currently sheltered and progress towards the establishment of the official Temporary Reception Centre Lipa, which is designed to accommodate 1,500 people, including families with children, unaccompanied children, and single men.
While 4,500 migrants, asylum-seekers and refugees are accommodated in the official temporary reception centres in Bosnia and Herzegovina, efforts are under-way to improve accommodation standards and capacities across the whole country. 
The Government of Austria, through the International Organization for Migration – IOM, provides financial support to the authorities of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the overall migration management, including support for additional reception facilities in Lipa and to help Bosnia and Herzegovina strengthen its migration management capacities.
The funds provided from Austria, are primarily directed to the establishment of an official temporary reception centre Lipa.
In addition to the construction works in Lipa, Austria participates financially in the management of reception centres in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as in the provision of non-food products and other needs for the most vulnerable among the migrants, announced the Press Office of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in B&amp;H.&nbsp;

The Vice President of the Alliance for a Better Future of B&amp;H, Admir Čavka, said that the latest events in Srebrenica showed the true situation of returnees in smaller B&amp;H entity, ie the policies that govern the processes conducted in Srebrenica.
- Unfortunately, many times so far we have witnessed that many of us are even declaratively in favor of the unity of the returnee corps when it comes to the election campaign. But, immediately after the election, it is clear that only individuals decide on the spoils, that is, on the positions that should be snatched - said Čavka.
According to him, this is exactly what happened in Srebrenica, the place of genocide, the greatest suffering of Bosniaks. Čavka reminds that SBB B&amp;H has participated in all meetings since the founding of the "My Address Srebrenica" initiative and gave full support to the candidate for mayor Alija Tabaković, but also to the coalition in which SBB B&amp;H also participated.
- As the vice president of SBB B&amp;H, I was at most of these meetings, and the representatives of the coalition met on several occasions with the president of SBB B&amp;H, Fahrudin Radončić. We unconditionally supported the boycott of the elections in Srebrenica and provided support to correct the injustice committed by election theft - said Čavka.

At the meeting in Srebrenica, which was attended by the leaders of political parties, it was concluded that the mandates will not be accepted and that in no case will there be cooperation with the deniers of genocide. After that, a meeting of the presidents of the political parties was held with the reis-l-ulema Husein Kavazović. On that occasion, a statement was signed that in the future all pro-Bosnian forces will operate together in the area of smaller Bosnia and Herzegovina entity.
- However, we learned from the media that a coalition was signed in Srebrenica between SNSD, SDA, DF and SB&amp;H without the consent and knowledge of SBB B&amp;H and PDA, which are part of the initiative "My address Srebrinica". By signing this coalition with the genocide deniers, everything that was agreed in the previous period was violated - Čavka pointed out.
In the local elections in Srebrenica, the coalition "My Address Srebrenica" appeared as a separate political entity, and the mandates were separated in the name of the coalition itself, and not in the name of separate political entities. According to Čavka, the representatives of the coalition had to inform all members of the coalition about the steps taken.
- With this act, the coalition "My Address Srebrenica" was extinguished, and it obviously served only for pre-election purposes - to reach certain positions. We can see that from the agreement between SNSD, SDA, DF and SB&amp;H. Functions and seats are divided, and the agreement itself does not mention the denial of genocide and other strategic issues – it was pointed out by Čavka.

SBB B&amp;H, adds Čavka, is not a signatory of the mentioned coalition, but this party, as every time so far, will support everything that is good for returnees. The Alliance for a Better Future of B&amp;H will insist on institutional assistance to returnees. This is the only way to ensure the survival of returnees on their doorsteps.
- Returnees who live at home every day, whose children go to school and are discriminated every day, must turn to themselves. We have too many enemies to be our own enemies. Therefore, it is more than necessary for us to unite and solve the accumulated problems together. We must not be on a bus rushing towards the accident. And while the bus is going to a certain doom, we are arguing over who will sit where - said Čavka.

The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) on Monday toughened coronavirus restrictions, including curfews and shortening of working hours.

According to decisions taken by the Council of Ministers, a 9PM to 5 AM curfew is being implemented from Monday to Saturday until April 26, while a total lockdown will take effect on Sunday.
Working hours for grocery stores have also been shortened for an hour this week – markets will remain open between 7 AM and 8 PM.Indoor and outdoor coffee houses and cafes are allowed to operate, but customers must be limited to one-third of the total capacity.
Meanwhile, mass worship in mosques and public iftars (sunset meal during Ramadan) are not allowed.
The TRNC has so far confirmed 3,913 COVID-19 cases and 24 related deaths. Vaccination drive against the disease also continues. More than 58,800 people have received their first dose, while over 48,500 have been fully vaccinated.

US Government donates equipment to B&H Border Police

Austria will only use Russia's Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine once the European Medicines Agency has approved it, Chancellor Sebastian Kurz said on Monday, amid growing public frustration with the pace of COVID-19 vaccinations.

Austria has been in talks with Russia to buy a million doses of the vaccine, and Kurz said on March 31 the order would probably be placed the following week. However, that order has yet to be announced.
Kurz had recently avoided saying whether his country would await EMA approval of the vaccine, which has been used in the European Union only by Hungary so far. EMA has launched a rolling review of Sputnik V.
-We hope it will quickly be approved by EMA as every extra vaccine dose helps us save lives- Kurz said in a statement, adding that his conservatives and their coalition partner, the Greens, had agreed to make the order. A Kurz spokesman confirmed that meant it would only be used after EMA's approval.
The efficacy of the two-shot Sputnik V vaccine was initially greeted with scepticism by some Western scientists after Russia approved it in August last year without waiting for the results of full clinical trials.
However, scientists said it was almost 92% effective in fighting COVID-19, based on peer-reviewed late-stage trial results published in The Lancet medical journal in February.
Many European officials still have concerns about Russia's intentions in exporting it to dozens of countries when it has yet to vaccinate most of its own population.
Only two other EU countries, Hungary and Slovakia, have ordered Sputnik V and only Hungary has used it. The issue is so controversial in Slovakia that it sparked a political crisis that prompted Prime Minister Igor Matovic to resign last month.

Austria will only use Sputnik V vaccine after EMA approval, Kurz says

The head of the Clinic for Anesthesia and Resuscitation of the Clinical Center of the University of Sarajevo (KCUS), Amela Katica-Mulalić, was questioned last week in the Prosecutor's Office of B&amp;H, as part of the investigation of "raspberry respirators", which are used only in this medical institution, "Avaz" portal finds out.

Dr. Katica-Mulalić's testimony to the prosecutors working on the investigation took a full seven hours.
Prosecutors, as we find out, were interested who approved the use of respirators procured by "Silver Raspberry" in COVID wards at KCUS, as well as a letter from anesthesiologists sent to the Administration, which talks about the catastrophic situation in the treatment of coronavirus patients.
The statement of Katica-Mulalić, given on several pages, does not go in favor of the general director Sebija Izetbegović, the wife of Bakir Izetbegović, the leader of the SDA.
This is exactly one of the reasons why Sebija is in total panic and why the alleged "doctors" of KCUS, 15 days after the visit of the state prosecutor Džermin Pašić in this institution, decided to file a report with the Office of the Disciplinary Prosecutor against him.
In fact, they want to stop the investigation and the work of prosecutors in this case at any cost, but also to prevent other anesthesiologists from testifying about the situation in KCUS. 45 deaths were reported to the FB&amp;H Public Health Institute in the past 24 hours. As of today, the number of deaths in the Federation of B&amp;H is 4,531.
Today, 12 new cases of coronavirus infection were registered in the Brčko District, and 44 samples were tested. Two people died, and two patients recovered.
In the entity of Republic of Srpska, 407 samples were tested in the last 24 hours, and coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) was confirmed in 115 people.
In the last 24 hours, 21 deaths have been reported to the RS Institute of Public Health.
So far, a total of 3,140 people have died in the RS.
The total number of hospitalized is 1,201, the RS Institute of Public Health said.
