The World Health Organization said Friday it has convened a special meeting to discuss a new COVID-19 variant discovered in South Africa.

WHO is closely monitoring the recently reported variant B11529 of coronavirus is "of interest or concern," WHO spokesman Christian Lindmeier told a UN news conference.
- Early analysis shows that this variant has a large number of mutations that require and will undergo further study - said the spokesman.
He said the new variant was detected "at a remarkable speed," and it will take a few weeks to understand what impact it has.
The dominant variant of the disease in many countries that spreads quickly is known as the Delta variant.

- The detection of this variant means that the surveillance system is in place and is working - said Lindmeier, who did not give an estimate of how long the analysis would take place.

Scientists in South Africa announced Thursday they had detected the new coronavirus variant with numerous mutations rapidly increasing the infections across the country.
- The variant has a 'very unusual constellation of mutations' and is different to the other variants of concern - Tulio De Oliveira, the director of the KwaZulu-Natal Research Innovation and Sequencing Platform, told a televised virtual briefing hosted by the country's Health Ministry.
He said the new variant was detected in samples from the northeastern province of Gauteng, which contains the cities of Johannesburg and Pretoria, on Nov. 12-22.
The same variant has also been detected in neighboring Botswana, as well as Hong Kong.

So, Komšić's director Andelija is the one who persistently rejects the miners' proposals. The competent ministry and the FB&amp;H Government can only be mediators, as they have no prescriptive legal basis in determining the price of coal or the owners' obligations to the mines.
As for Komšić's proposal to remove the Prime minister, the competent minister and the director of the EP, it is completely clear that SBB absolutely supports such an idea.
After all, on June 1st, 2020, SBB, together with SDP, Naša stranka, PDA, A-SDA, NiP and Nezavisni blok, voted for the removal of Novalić's FB&amp;H Government, which has been in a technical mandate for three years. Let Mr. Komšić, who now remembered "Zaimović's Novalić," check how his esteemed deputies voted then. Let us remind him, however, that Komšić and his deputies did not raise their hands for the removal of the FB&amp;H Government.

Zagreb, instead of obsolete weapons and ammunition, which was intended for write-off and sale, in order to reduce storage and warehousing costs, amended the contract to export weapons and ammunition of higher quality and market demand, thus damaging the B&amp;H budget by about 9.7 million KM, as well as others, obtained material benefits in the amount of several millions - it is stated in the statement of the Prosecutor's Office of B&amp;H.
The Accused is charged that, as an official in the executive bodies of B&amp;H, in the position of State Minister of Defense, by using his official position, he caused damage to the budget of B&amp;H and obtained a large amount of property gain for another, thus committing a prolonged criminal offense of abuse of office or powers under Article 220 of the Criminal Code of B&amp;H.
The Prosecution of Bosnia and Herzegovina will prove the guilt of the accused by questioning a large number of witnesses and expert witnesses and enclosing several hundred pieces of material evidence. The indictment was forwarded to the Court of B&amp;H for confirmation.

Recently, the group starred in a brutal 2020 confrontation with Valencia ultras, where objects like chairs and sticks were used as dozens of men beat each other on the streets.
But, according to police, their crimes go beyond football rivalries.
- Boixos Nois acted like an authentic criminal organization with discipline, a hierarchy, and an excessively violent character that was shown to other organizations that tried to move on their territory - said the police statement.
The group is accused of dealing drugs, both street drugs and illegally imported medication like steroids, and running a prostitution ring. One of the group’s leaders was also a member of the biker gang Hells Angels, according to police.
- The economic returns resulting from this illicit activity became the basis for financing their activities, which were mainly related to attending music and sporting events to disseminate hatred, hostility and violence towards vulnerable or rival groups - said the police.​​​​​​​

The European Commission on Thursday proposed new rules on political ads and transparency, demanding that tech companies reveal the sponsor and amount spent on campaigns, as well as online targeting criteria.

The proposed regulation would require clear labelling of political ads and showing who sponsored the campaign, how much they paid for it, and from which funds.
Online ads on Facebook and other platforms, including many funded by the Russian government, have drawn criticism for alleged stealth disinformation meant to stoke tensions and sway voters.
The commission draft would set rules for all types of political ads, but its main focus is on tech giants and social media campaigns since it would impose strict transparency conditions on targeted online campaigns.
The legislation would ban targeting and boosting techniques for political ads based on sensitive data such as ethnicity, sexual orientation, or religion without the clear consent of the user.
It would also require targeted ads to feature the criteria upon which the audience was chosen and to tell which other groups were targeted.
“Elections must not be a competition of opaque and non-transparent methods. People must know why they are seeing an ad, who paid for it, how much, what micro-targeting criteria were used,” said Vera Jourova, EU commissioner for values and transparency.
If they fail to comply, the European Commission would be mandated to fine the tech companies and ad platforms involved.
The proposal has yet to be adopted by the European Parliament or the Council of the EU representing EU member states.

- EMA’s human medicines committee has recommended granting an extension of indication for the COVID-19 vaccine Comirnaty to include use in children aged 5 to 11 - the EU body announced in a press statement.
Based on the agency’s approval, the European Commission will update the marketing authorization of the jab, lowering the advised age limit from the current 12 to 5 years.
The recommended dose for children under 12 will be one-third of the normal amount of a BioNTech jab.
BioNTech/Pfizer vaccines were the first COVID-19 jabs authorized by the bloc in December 2020.
Under an advance purchased agreement, the EU financially contributed to the development of the vaccine by scientists Ugur Sahin and Ozlem Tureci, a Turkish-German immigrant couple.
In order to provide booster jabs, the European Commission agreed in May with Pfizer/BioNTech to purchase another 1.8 billion doses for the years 2022 and 2023, in addition to the 600 million doses received this year.
The jab uses an innovative technique mRNA based on a messenger molecule with instructions to produce a protein from the virus that causes COVID-19 to prepare the body to fight the disease.

High Representative Christian Schmidt visited Washington DC on 22-23 November 2021 to discuss current political developments and the overall status of peace implementation in Bosnia and Herzegovina with United States officials.

During his meetings with high-ranking State Department and National Security Council officials, including National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan, State Department Counselor Derek Chollet, and State Department Under Secretary Victoria Nuland, the High Representative outlined the challenges stemming from the current blockade of political and institutional processes at the state level, as well as from irresponsible adventurist initiatives coming from the Republic of Srpska leadership.

Preventing the rollback of achievements of the last 26 years is the top priority. A successful response to current challenges will provide Bosnia and Herzegovina with the opportunity to advance on its EU path, which includes fulfilling the objectives and conditions to graduate from international supervision - said the High Representative Schmidt.
During his visit to Washington DC, the High Representative also met with Alina Iancu, the IMF Mission Chief for Bosnia and Herzegovina, and attended the roundtable discussion "Bosnia and Herzegovina and Stability in the Western Balkans" organized by the Hudson Institute and Hanns-Seidel Foundation, stated the OHR.&nbsp;
