There is still no official statement from the Service for Foreigners’ Affairs of B&amp;H or international organizations, but it was previously confirmed that the agreement on financing "Sedra", in which vulnerable categories of migrants and refugees have stayed for almost three years, expires today.
Minister of the Interior of the Una-Sana Canton, Nermin Kljajić, also announced the closure of "Sedra" by the end of the month, adding that according to their information, such a decision was made due to the smaller number of migrants coming and staying in this part of B&amp;H.
-It is evident that a smaller number of migrants come to the area of our canton this year, so all indicators show that the Reception Center 'Borići' in Bihać is enough to take care of vulnerable categories of the migrant population- said Minister Kljajić.

The Trial Chamber of the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals handed down convictions in The Hague today in the case of Prosecutor v. Jovica Stanišić and Franko Simatović.

The Trial Chamber found Stanišić and Simatović guilty under all counts of the Indictment and sentenced them to 12 years of imprisonment each, subject to credit for the period of time they have spent in custody thus far.
Stanišić and Simatović were the leaders of the State Security Service of Serbia. The two were initially acquitted of all charges by the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) in 2013 but the verdict was overturned two years later.

The laying of the foundation stone for two halls in Lipa migrant camp near Bihać will be held on Thursday, July 1, starting at 11 am, in the presence of the Apostolic Nuncio to Bosnia and Herzegovina Msgr. Luigi Pezzuto.
 
Pope Francis, through the Apostolic Nunciature in Sarajevo, expressed a desire to provide concrete sign of support to migrants and those who take care of them in Lipa migrant center. With a personal donation, the Pope decided to support the establishment of two multi-purpose halls and dining rooms for families and minors in the permanent camp Lipa, which is currently under construction, reports KTA.
Diocesan Caritas Banja Luka, Caritas Ambrosiana and Ipsia also contribute to establishing of the two halls, as well as the future management of these spaces.
This support represents Pope Francis' second donation to migrants moving along Bosnia and Herzegovina, after the first since last October, which enabled the establishment of two "social corners" in the Ušivak and Sedra refugee centers.

Portuguese Presidency of the Council of the European Union has updated a new list of safe countries with a low COVID-19 risk, which includes Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and Kosovo, Radio Free Europe learns.
 
The ambassadors of the EU member states approved the list, and this decision will take effect by the end of this week, which means that the citizens of these countries, including those who have not been vaccinated, can travel to the EU member states.
At a meeting on Wednesday, the permanent representatives of the EU member states discussed the latest proposal of the list, which includes Canada, Moldova, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), in addition to the Western Balkan countries.

The server that was found at the vacation home near Semizovac, and on which all the data on the registry books and student enrollments should be, was sent for expertise. Earlier, during the search of the University of Tuzla, it was determined that there was no evidence that Mehmedagić was ever a student of this higher education institution, and in order to cover up all traces, the arrested Prcić hid the documentation in the basement of the mentioned vacation home.

In addition, Osmica submitted the diploma, which was given to him by the detained Prcić, to the Commission for the Supervision of the Work of the ISA, all with the aim of remaining at the head of the secret service for another term. He is currently the head of ISA as a pensioner because it was determined that he acquired the conditions for retirement five months ago.
As the investigation expands, witnesses testify and documents on Mehmedagić's education are collected, numerous ambiguities and illogicalities come to light. For example, how and when Osmica enrolled in high school, more precisely the vocational school in Sarajevo in 1978. Namely, Mehmedagić finished three years at the Railway School with practical training in the railway workshop "Vaso Miskin Crni" in Sarajevo, which earned him the title of qualified electromechanic.
He received his diploma on June 16th, 1981. He enrolled in the first year in 1978. According to these documents, Mehmedagić, who was born in 1962, enrolled in the Railway School "Vaso Miskin Crni" in Sarajevo at the age of 16.
The question is how Osmica enrolled at the Faculty of Law in Sarajevo in 1994 with a completed vocational school, because he enrolled at the faculty without a certificate. In the enrollment form was written "Conditional enrollment". He justified that with the state of war.
It is interesting that Mehmedagić, with the annulled student report card, which he declared "lost" through the "Official Gazette", after all enrolled at the Faculty of Business Studies in Banja Luka, and with that diploma he was appointed as director of the Intelligence and Security Agency. Shortly afterwards, this diploma was annulled.

The Mehmedagić's grades during his education for electromechanic are also interesting, where it is clear that he was not a good student.
He finished first year modestly, with poor behavior and good grades. He was graded two in mathematics, three in chemistry and physics, and two in English.
He improved his grade point average because of Sports, and in this class he was graded four. In a way, he justified his status as SDA's Bruce Willis, as Bakir Izetbegović, Osmica's boss and friend, recently stated that during the large demonstrations of citizens in 2014, outraged by the decades-long rule of the Izetbegović dynasty, Osmica personally in Sarajevo "he put out the fire and calmed the protesters".

Greece has recovered works of art by Pablo Picasso and Piet Mondrian, stolen from its National Gallery in 2012, authorities said on Tuesday.

Thieves broke into the gallery and snatched Picasso's 1939 painting "Woman's Head", donated by the Spanish artist in 1949, and Dutch painter Mondrian's "Mill" dated 1905.
To mislead the guard, the thieves had activated the gallery's alarm system several times before breaking into the building early in the morning. The guard turned off the alarm only to spot one of the thieves through the motion detector.
On Monday, authorities arrested a 49-year-old Greek man who confessed that he had stolen the paintings and led police to a forest outside Athens where he had hidden them, the Citizens' Protection Ministry said on Tuesday.
Footage handed out by police from the site showed one of the paintings sealed in a package under bushes.
The arrested man said a sketch by Italian painter Guglielmo Caccia, donated to the gallery in 1907 and also stolen in 2012, had been destroyed, the ministry said.
The paintings will be exhibited once again in the National Gallery, which opened in March after nine years of renovation work, as part of celebrations marking the 200th anniversary of the Greek War of Independence in Athens.

The US State Department Special Envoy for the Western Balkans Matthew Palmer will arrive on Saturday, July 3, to visit Bosnia and Herzegovina, FENA learns from diplomatic sources.
 
Numerous meetings of the US envoy with B&amp;H officials are planned, including a meeting with B&amp;H Presidency Chairman and members Milorad Dodik, Šefik Džaferović and Željko Komšić.
President of the Croat Democratic Union (HDZ) of B&amp;H, Dragan Čović, previously announced the possibility of the arrival of officials from the European and American administration in order to discuss changes in the election legislation in B&amp;H.

More than three billion doses of Covid-19 vaccines have been given across the world, according to an AFP tally Tuesday from official sources.

The pace of vaccination has so quickened that while it took 20 weeks to give the first billion, it only took four to give the last one thousand million.
Some four of 10 of the jabs have been given in China (1.2 billion), with India (329 million) and the United States (324 million) also in the top three.
But it is a trio of Middle Eastern countries that leads the way in terms of coverage (when you exclude countries with populations of less than one million), with the United Arab Emirates having given 153 doses per 100 people, ahead of Bahrain and Israel on 124. 
The three have nearly fully vaccinated 60 percent of their inhabitants. 
Following them are Chile (118 doses per 100 people), the United Kingdom (113), Mongolia (111), Uruguay (110), Hungary (107), Qatar (107) and the US (98). 
These countries have fully vaccinated around half of their populations (between 46 and 54 percent).
The European Union has given 357 millions shots to half of its population, with some 32 percent of the population having been fully covered.
Its smallest member Malta has completely covered seven out of 10 of its people; its biggest countries, Germany, France, Italy and Spain are hovering around a third fully vaccinated.&nbsp;

But globally the vaccination drive is still hugely unequal even if most poor countries have begun to vaccinate thanks to the Covax sharing scheme run by the World Health Organization, Gavi and the Cepi coalition.

While the world's poorest countries have only been able to give one dose per 100 people, the richest have given one per 79 people. 
And five countries have yet to start their campaigns -- Tanzania, Burundi, Eritrea, Haiti and North Korea.

We hope that this case, after the reaction of the public and professional associations for the protection of media freedom, will change the dangerous and undemocratic social situation in which corrupt political powerful people in power exert pressure and dictate the decisions and behavior of individual judges and prosecutors.

Heavy rain, giant hailstones and gale-force winds lashed parts of southern Germany and Switzerland on Monday night, causing widespread flooding and tearing off part of the roof of an opera house.

The Board of Directors of the Association of BH Journalists expresses deep concern over the recent decision of the Municipal Court in Sarajevo, more precisely the Decision on execution according to which the company "Avaz-roto press" was seized more than 212,000 KM from the account to collect awarded court penalties and enforcement costs, following a defamation lawsuit dating back to 2009, the BH Journalists Association said in a statement.
- The Board of Directors of BH Journalists does not question the legality of the said court decision that followed after "Avaz-roto press" fully paid court costs, the prosecutor's claim and published the content of the verdict on half a page, instead of the whole page, as requested by the prosecutor. However, BH journalists emphasize that such high fines (penalties for untimely execution of part of the final verdict) can seriously jeopardize the work and business of the media, to which the editors of "Dnevni avaz" also drew attention, stating that due to the seizure of the mentioned funds, the existence of several hundred employees of this media house was called into question.
Unfortunately, this is not the first time that the collection of excessive damages claims for defamation lawsuits, as well as court costs and penalties calls into question the survival of the media in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The so-called SLAPP lawsuits, most often initiated by political and judicial officials against journalists and the media, with the clear goal of stopping any criticism of officials and researching issues and topics of public interest through financial destruction or endangering the media, are a growing problem in B&amp;H and the region, as well as throughout the European Union.

The Board of Directors of the Association of BH Journalists emphasizes that when making court decisions regarding defamation lawsuits or (non) execution of court judgments, it is necessary to find a balance between the economic power of the media, the public interest and the right to compensation. The mentioned decision of the Municipal Court in Sarajevo against "Avaz roto-press" is an example of the judiciary's actions outside the EU standards and practice, in which compensation claims in such cases must be reasonable and must not in any way jeopardize the economic survival of the media.
We would also like to draw your attention to the fact that this is a case that dates back to 2009 and in which the first-instance verdict on the defamation lawsuit was passed in 2012. Thus, the entire trial related to this case lasts a full 12 years, which speaks volumes about the inefficiency of the judicial system in Bosnia and Herzegovina in which such cases are „dragged“ on courts for an unacceptably long time - and this, ultimately, leads to huge amounts of court fees in individual cases.
Nearly 300 defamation lawsuits against journalists and the media are currently active in the courts in B&amp;H. It is astonishing that more than 80 percent of prosecutors in these cases are politicians, members of the judiciary and other public officials who do not accept criticism and questioning of their work through the media as a contribution to public political debate, but as an opportunity for political and institutional pressure on the media or a means of their economic destruction - it is written in the statement of the Association of BhH Journalists.

A large fire ripped through a railway arch beside Elephant and Castle station in south London on Monday, sending a ball of flame and plumes of black smoke billowing up high into the sky above the capital.

Police said the incident was not terror related. There were no immediate reports of anyone being injured.
The London Fire Brigade said 10 fire engines and 70 firefighters were tackling the blaze which raced through three commercial units, causing trains to be diverted.
